CCYSA Minutes March 7, 2002

Kim called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.

ATTENDING:
Doug Lawrence, Jill Butler, Mike Casey, Kim Moyer, Chip Dodson, Pam Lettie, Pat Pope, Frank Beam. Betsy Munson came in later.

MINUTES:
All in favor as written

TREASURER
Pam needs to switch the bank statement to our post office box, rather than having it go to Kim's house. Pam gave the treasurers report. We have $21,768.65 in our bank account as of 3/1/02. Pam reviewed the 2001 P&L. Chip made motion, Kim seconded that we keep our registration fees the same for the fall 2002 season.

REGISTRATIONS
Pat gave the board a summary of the 345 registrations for the year.

SOCCER CAMP
Nothing new from Mike. Kim would like to have a camp at the picnic. Skills night should be in June. Motion was made to explore challenger camp and limiting age group to 6-12 for the camp. No one was opposed.

TRAINING
For the F-course, The cost would be $15 per person with 12-person minimum April 13-14 would be first choice; April 20-21 second choice U6- U8 would be Saturday U8- U10 would be Sunday Jill is going to check on the minimum age. 10 kids needed each date for 1 ½ hours for training.
For E-course, $65 per candidate with a 12-person minimum 18-hour course First choice is May 17-18-19 Second choice is May 3-4-5 (Apple Blossom)
For a D-course (this would be with BRYSA) $115 per candidate, with a 16 person minimum. $1,500 deposit 36-hour course First choice is June 21-22-23 Second choice is June 28-29-30
Jill will invite BRYSA to everything.
CCPR sent Kim a flyer on coach's training that we will distribute; it's good to make coaches comfortable with the kids.

FIELD ISSUES
Doug needs to line JWMS. He will probably do it Monday, March 11. Kim ordered porta potties for Keystone and for JWMS.

NEWSLETTER
Deadline is next week on March 15 to get items to Chip. Referees training information could be in there. Jill will find out fee structure on referees for newsletter. Jill is going to call all referees over the weekend to let them know.

BRYSA
Surprise! Peggy Kinzie, the vice-commissioner/registrar liaison, said that BRYSA had changed the ages for the teams. They didn't tell us (said they didn't have the time to call us). Fifteen girls on our teams were affected - they were too old to play with the team they were rostered with. Was 1990-1993, now 1989-1991 and 1991 to 1993, so it changed everything we'd done. Stuart suggested that we find a way to comply. The junior girls team would be playing 8 on 8; hard for us when we have 18 girls. Kim doesn't know when it changed. BRYSA always wanted to separate them, but were just responding to their registration.
Choices: 1. Leave everything as is; pay the money; send the rosters over now and deal with the change in the fall. 2. We have four all-girls teams. Rather than going over there and being subjected to scruitinization by BRYSA teams with younger girls, we could have our girls here in CC and have games between them. We would not pay BRYSA the money. Intermediate and above would still be BRYSA. 3. Rearrange the rosters, but that involves coaches, families, splitting families with multiple children on one team.
Peggy could not pin down the size of the teams. All teams are typically 12 girls, so they will play 8 v 8. That means it will cost us an extra $225, because we'd have an extra team. (Stuart says the $225 just covers the referee cost; they don't make any money.) Extensive discussion followed. Mike said we should only consider "what's best for the girls." When CC plays CC, Frank says that Peggy committed that CC v. CC games will all be in Clarke. Kim wants to ask for a slight reduction in fees, since we'll be playing here. Frank says BRYSA responded quickly to his calls and that he thinks it will work to the junior's advantage. Frank says the coaching is covered. This gives girls the best opportunity, Frank says. Chip points out that this is a major hassle; eleventh hour and we're rearranging. We have to order shirts next week. Chip would like to see our program self-contained, not sourced out. Too much hassle coordinating. Frank says that this is this season's catastrophe. Frank made a motion that all-girls team play in BRYSA and that we conform to their standards. Mike seconded. All said aye. Motion passed. Frank took over the meeting, so Kim could attend the coach's meeting.

PHOTOS
Rachel will take pictures April 6 of Bantam and Middler. April 11 preinstructional and instructional and travel. All BRYSA teams she'll take when she takes BRYSA pictures.

BETSY MUNSON
Motion was made and passed to allow her study.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
