Preseason Competitive Soccer Camp

CCSL is excited to announce a new option for summer camp!

We are excited to announce a new option for summer camp, in addition to our Challenger Camps. We have partnered with Brazilian United to offer our players the chance to attend a camp that is designed for players who are looking for a more intense training experience.

Brazilian United Camps offer:

Professional coaching from certified Brazilian trainers — the same style that made Brazil a 5-time world champion.
Real skill development through a proven play-based training method.
Safe, positive, and confidence-building environment every child feels included. CPR and First Aid certified staff, background-checked coaches.
Fun + active sessions that keep kids moving, learning, and loving the game.
More than soccer: teamwork, creativity, joy and leadership - the #BeyondSoccer impact.

The camp will take place at Chet Hobert Park on August 10-14 from 5:30pm-8:30pm. It is open for travel or rec players.

Farewell and Thank You Sarah Elliston!

Celebrating a Dedicated Volunteer

September 15, 2025 - Berryville, VA - This season, we bid farewell to Sarah Elliston, our long-standing board member and CCSL Director of Rec. Sarah joined the CCSL Board in 2022, having coached and volunteered with the league for years prior. Under Sarah’s leadership, CCSL has seen a significant increase in volunteers and coaches, as well as gained operational efficiencies that help CCSL focus on making soccer better here in Clarke County, Virginia.

In addition to running the league’s Rec program, Sarah was instrumental in CCSL Spirit Nights in coordination with the Clarke County High School. The community program runs each Spring, uniting both organization’s athletic programs with an opportunity to share community spirit, culminated by a league-wide penalty-kick opportunity during the high school’s halftime. It’s one of the most anticipated community events each Spring.

“Sarah’s commitment to building a strong community and learning through sports is a legacy we look forward to continuing,” said Ray Steen, CCSL President. “She had a unique way of bringing people together, making soccer in Clarke County a real community event each weekend.”

This season, our end-of-the-season league picnic is Saturday, November 1. Yes, we are starting the plans now because the picnic is always an incredible time for our soccer community to celebrate another fantastic season.

Events begin at 9 a.m, and include the following:

U10 tournament, 15-min halves, finishes with championship game at 2:00pm
U12 tournament, 30-min halves, finishes with championship game at 12:00pm
U13-U16 championship game at 10:30am
Coaches vs. Refs Game at 1:00pm
Raffle prizes drawn & silent auction winners 12:30pm

CCSL Travel Program Joins NCSL

CCSL’s travel teams will compete in NCSL beginning in the Fall 2023 season.

Competing with high-level teams closer to Clarke County, NCSL provides an environment and structure designed to enhance player development at all levels. “Our CCSL travel program has boomed over the course of just a few years, thanks in large part to a renewed, laser focus on player and coach development,” said Ray Steen, CCSL President. “Competing at a high level with teams closer in proximity makes the move to NCSL a perfect progression for our players and community.”

CCSL’s travel program begins at the futures/pre-travel stage at U9 and runs to competitively through U19. Over the last six years, the program has fielded teams who have succeeded in winning divisions in both SCSL and VPSL, as well as competing and in various competitive tournaments throughout the state.

“Player development comes first,” said Joshua Dispenza, CCSL Director of Travel. “Our focus on community, competition and camaraderie drives our approach to the game, every day. Our coaches care about the long-term outcome of the players and the teams. They care about each other. They collaborate and there’s no financial incentive behind anything. The focus is on the player and the person – and that will always be the focus.”

The number of CCSL travel club teams have grown from one U14 team six years ago to 12 teams today. The growth of the travel program has come in large part to heightened dedication to coach training and development, as well as the pre-travel prep program that begins as early as U9. CCSL has also forged strategic partnerships with neighboring leagues committed to developing players through competitive friendlies.

Clarke County’s travel teams are holding tryouts beginning May 8 at Chet Hobert Park in Berryville, Va. Tryout registration is free and required at www.clarkesoccer.org .

Watch your player's games!

Clarke County Soccer has officially entered into an agreement with Trace Cam.

That means all of our travel games are now recorded and every CCSL travel team now has the opportunity to provide invaluable learning tools for our young athletes.

Coaches now have access to a wealth of game data to help them better understand team dynamics and individual player performance. This, in turn, will lead to more effective training sessions and improved player development. Moreover, players can review their performances, identify areas for improvement, and make necessary adjustments to enhance their skills.

Parents can watch their player's games and highlights any time on their personal channel, and create playlists to share with family and friends.
